PLAYLAND TO OPEN ON SATURDAY
Proceeds Devoted To Patriotic Fund
Playland at the Centennial Exhibition will be open next Saturday, from 2.30 p.m. to midnight. This was announced yesterday by the Playland organizer, Mr. Henry Self. He said that by the courtesy of the Exhibition Company, the proprietors of Playland had arranged to open, the proceeds being devoted to the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Fund. He added that offers of outside assistance in operating Playland on this occasion would be appreciated. Admission would be free, by the gates at Tirangi Road and Resolution Street, the funds for the Patriotic' Fund being derived from the charges for going on the various main rides and devices. All these would be working, with the exception of the Jack and Jill, which was already in process of being dismantled when the decision to open was made. Many of the stallholders had signified their intention of co-operating.
