l Central Military District i Registrations for military service in i the central district for this month tip - to midnight on Saturday, totalled 117, , an increase of 25 since Thursday. “ Since recruiting for overseas service - began 5202 men have registered in the Wellington and Hutt Valley area. Of these 2477 have been passed lit for service. 356 have been declared temporarily unlit, 698 permanently unlit, and 2351 have been sent to camp. Tiie balance of lit men witii two children or less, excluding officers, available for sending to camp is 950. In addition there are 57 fit men with more than two children available, and there are 34 officers who have been passed as tit and who have not. yet been posted. vacates created disputes in .-in industry on the expiry of a current award without any regard to the eondiilions in the industry. or rather without, due regard to the question of the extent to which conditions had changed. Witnesses were called by Mr. Butler, who contended that the majority of the workers ranged from semi-skilled to skilled, that the work was arduous, and severe on clothes. Mr. Wright, giving evidence for the employers, maintained that only a small portion of the workmen in the industry required to lie skilled, as it was possible to train men in a comparatively short time. '.l'he Court reserved its decision.
