An enjoyable programme consisting of three one-act plays ami several concert items was presented to an appreciative audience in St. Francis Hall, Wellington, last Friday evening in aid of the Home of Compassion. The first two plays by members of the Wellington Repertory Society evoked much interest. The cast of “In a Day’s Work” included Madame Bejts-Vincent and Mr. W. 0. Phillips, and was produced by the latter. The second play. “Shall We Leave the Gentleman?” (producer, Mr. G. H. Swan) had the following players: Misses Nancy Potter, Mary Gilian, Ngaire Horton, Dorothy Buck and Louise Hall. The third play, “One Morning Very Early,” presented by the Lyceum Drama Circle, was very amusing and had the following cast: Mesdames Herbert and Masters, and Misses O’Donoghue, Harrison and Ahern, tho last-named being the producer.
Songs by Mrs. T.-Casserley and Mr. P. Murdoch added to the enjoyment of the evening. Incidental music was played by Mrs. 0. McDonald aud Misses Olga Burton and Kathleen Goodson.
