DEMOCRATIC LABOUR

Mr. Barnard Pleased With Wellington Meeting

Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, May 4.

Favourable impressions of tlie meeting of the Democratic Labour Party in Wellington were voiced by the M.P. for Napier, Mr. Barnard, on his return to Napier. “The Wellington Town Hall Concert Chamber was packed to capacity and many were unable to get in,” said Mr. Barnard. “The meeting was an exceptionally fine one, and the audience was enthusiastic and determined. “One of the pleasing features to me was the number of Wellington watereiders who came to me after the meeting and congratulated me on my stand. Evidently they are not under the domination of Mr. James Roberts. “I understand the secretary of the newly-formed branch of the Democratic Labour Party was Mr. Semple’s principal election agent at the 1938 election.”
