Light Van Collides With Truck (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 3. Fatal injuries were suffered by an elderly passenger in a light milk delivery van when the vehicle collided with the back of a stationary motorlorry on the Great North Road in New Lynn shortly before nine o’clock tonight. The victim was Mr. William James Smith-, dairyman. New Lynn. Tlie van, which was driven by Mr. Smith’s son, was travelling toward the city witli a load of milk. While the lorry was about to move off in tlie same direction, after having been pulled up by the driver to rectify engine trouble, the left-hand side of the cab of the van, which Was occupied by tlie passenger, collided with tlie rear corner of the truck, being twisted and crumpled by the force of the blow. Mr. Smith, sen., suffered severe injuries to tlie head and chest and died within a few minutes.'
