Sportsmen who shoot over Ahuriri Lagoon, Napier, and who have been prevented from doing so, arc to protest further to tile Prime Minister. After a long discussion at a recent meeting spoilsmen carried the following resolution: “We workersl of Napier as sliootists strongly condemn and deplore tlie unreasonable attitude of tlie Minister of Lands in not giving sliootists access to the Ahuriri Lagoon. No such treatment lias ever been received from any previous Government. It was disclosed that the legal position had altered slightly since last year. A letter from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, stated in effect that the prohibition on shooting of game was lifted so far as his department was concerned. It now rested with tlie Minister of Lauds, Mr Langstone, and his department to say whether shooting would be permitted.
The Hawke's Bay Museum and Art Gallery is to benefit by £3OOO, subject io a life interest, under tlie will of tlie in'e Mr. F. Hutchinson. Omatua, Rissington. ’Pliis bequest is a reflect ion of Mr. Hutchinson's deep interest in natural history and nature study.
