\ Subversive Stickers Distributed (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Air. Orr Walker, issued a warning that any others who might, come before him on a similar charge would receive the maximum penalty, namely, £lOO. or three months’ imprisonment, unless they could show why the maximum penalty should not lie imposed. Shanahan pleaded guilty to a charge of distributing a sticker entitled “Fight Against Conscription and Imperialist War.’’ Tite police said that stickers such as those described were found on cargo being unloaded from the motor vessel Kapili at Whangarei. Counsel for Shanahan submitted that the offence occurred only 15 days after the regulations were gazetted, lie had no connexion witli stickers on overseas ships. The magistrate said that Hie punishment indicted should be such as to deter other people from committiug a similar offence.
