Fixtures To Be Played In Wellington HOCKEY SEASON OPENS 'The Wellington Rugby Union will continue its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the following senior matches will be played :— ‘Senior, First Division: Poneke v. Eastbourne, Eastibourne, 3 p.m.; Hutt v. St. Patrick’s 0.8., Hutt Rec. No. 13 p.m.; Petone v. Johnsonville, Petone No. 1, 3 p.m.; Wellington v. iMarist, Athletic Park, 3 p.m.; University v. Wellington College O. Athletic Park, 1.30 p.m.; Oriental v. Athletic, Polo No. 1, 3 p.m. Senior, Second Division: Petone v. Miramar, Petone No. 2, 3 p.m.; Onslow v. A match will be played between the Wellington and Hutt clubs today, the A teams meeting at Heretaunga and the B teams at Hutt. The first eight players in the A teams will contest a Crawford Crescent match. Two Huddlin' Shield matches will be

played today, Taita meehing I’areniata, at Taita, and Boulcott playing Tui Glen, at Boulcott. The Manor Park club will play a stableford event today, and tomorrow the qualifying round for the Tingey Cup will be played, in conjunction with the first round of the Harrower Cup competition. Harriers. The Wellington harrier clubs will hold their weekly runs this afternoon. The Hutt Valley club will hold a teams’ race for the Craig Rose Bowl, starting from Hutt Park at 230 o’clock. The University Club will take part in an invitation race at Island Bay. The Brooklyn club will have an invitation run from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Lee. 102 Konini Road, Hataitai. The Methodist club will run from the Island Bay Baptist Church at the invitation of the Baptist club. Women’s Basketball. The Wellington Basketball Association will proceed with its championship competitions this afternoon, when the following senior matches will be played:— Senior A: University v. Kia Ora, Mount Cook No. 2, 2.50 p.m.; Training College v. Wellington C.0.G., Mount Cook No 1, 1.30 p.m.; Wellington East O.G. v.
