The prices varied from unsteady to fair at the cattle fair held in I'eliding today the demand for a heavy penning Ot run’ stock being patchy The v;‘lues sheep were more or less uiicha „c<, though those for stores were slightly 00 Fat sheep: Moderate entry of mutton found a linn market, and a total clearance was effected. Extra prime wethers made 26/10 to 28/-, prime heavy 2a/- to 26/6, medium 23/- to 24/9, uu Inns let. 22/6; extra prime ewes 24/<, prime IJ/1 to 21/6, average sorts lb/l) to 18/9, uiifinished 14/- to 16/-; prime lambs. -3/o to 24/7, lighter 19/< to 20/3. Store sheep: Breeding owes had an oil <kiv the market not showing the same inquiry as last week for either ewes or lambs Good two-tooth ewes made 30/-, second-grade 27/6 to 28/3; good m.a. ewes 25/3; two and four-tooth ewes 27/3; plain four and five-year ewes lb/9 , plain five-year ewes 14/5, better sorts 16/6; wether lambs, good 10/t>, small 10/- to 11/6; best ewe lambs 20/S. Store cattle: A heavy penning of more than 1500 station stock- over-supplied the market. Excellent sales were made tn some eases, but, generally, the market was unsteady to easier. Good three and a half-year A.A. steers made £9/6/-, others £7/1/-; two and a half-year A.A. steers, £4/10/- to £5/11/-; two and a half-year A.A. and Hereford-cross steers, £5/17/6- mixed two and a half-year steers, £4/15/-; good two and a hatlvear Hereford steers, £6/7/-; well-grown weaner steers, £2/15/-; three-year A.A. steers, £7 to £7/8/-; two-year Hereford steers. £5/13/- to £6, extra good to £6 17/6; A.A. cows £3/9/-; works cows, heavy £3/15/- to £4/10/-, others £l/10/to £3/10/-; empty heifers £3/5/-; weaner Jersey heifers, to £3/9/-. Dairy cattle: A small entry of winter calvers sold at late rales. Good springing cows made £7/15/-. others from £4 10/-; choice springing heifers £9, backward from £3/17/6. Fat cattle: A firm sale resulted for beef. good, finished, lightweight cows selling well. Prime station cows made £7/10/- to £7/12/6, lightweights £6 to £7: light prime heifers, £6/7/6_to _£7; light A.A. steers, £5/17/6 to £7/17/6; ex-dairy cows, £4 to £5/15/-. Pigs: An excellent entry of pigs so.d at advanced prices. Wenners made 7/- to 9/-; slips, 13/6 to 15/-; stores, £l/15/-; porkers, £l/15/- to £2/12/6; bacoucrs, £3. Poultry prices are: Mens, 1/3 to 3/7; pullets, 6/3 to 7/3; cockerels, 1/10 to 3/-; ducks, 2/9; geese, 2/7.
