Prices For First Shipment By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, May 2. A shipment of New Zealand Cox s apples has made history, being the first marketed in London under the New Zealand Government marketing scheme. 1 hey brought -top prices on Monday, at 1(/to 19/6 a case, and yesterday sold at 11>/(> to 18/9. Mr Harry Turner, London manager ot the fruit sales for the New Zealand Marketing Department, said: “Both the first shipment and the second which is unloading arrived in a pleasing condition, considering the wartime difiicultics.’’ The market was eager for furl her supplies which it is now believed will be coming forward satisfactorily.
Bycroft’s Improved Profits
Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND. May 3. A further improvement in earning is recorded in the accounts of Bycroft Limited for the year ended March 31. Net profit was £11.(34. an increase of £<z..i on the previous year. The dividend is maintained at 8 per coni, per annum (-1 per cent, lilial), hut the distribution requires more because of the increm-e of capital from £125.00(1 to £150.000 which became effective during the vear. Gross trading profit was £k.S4( against £75.907 a year ago and expenses, including directors’ fees, totalled £66,548 compared with £65.211.
