“SWITZERLAND"
One Week To Opening Of Return Wellington Season On the afternoon of next Saturday, J. C. Williamson's picturesque iee show and ice ballet, “Switzerland,” will begin a brief return season in the Now Opera House, Wellington. Already, tile 10 tons of material required to create the rink, the refrigerating machines, and the two brine tanks, each of which is heavier than one ton, have arrived in Wellington. The floor of the stalls will again ibe raised so that .patrons seated in this part of the theatre will have a clear view of the rink, but this time it will be 'higher. “Switzerland” is presented in , the happiest style. Much of this happiness is instigated by Eddie Marcel, tlie compere of the entire show, who is quickly on the most intimate terms wiith audiences, and is easily maintained by the colounfiul dresses of the performers, the cunning, artistic lighting effects, and the orchestra. Olf the artists, Megan Taylor, champion ice skater of the world, and her father, Phil Taylor, whose act on stilts, as well as his barrel-jumping,, is amazing, are the unquestionable principals. Other skaters whose work is also worthy of praise are Elsie Heathcote, Diana Gvafton, Rita Brumley, the MacKinnon Sisters, and Ronald Priestly, not to mention the girls of the ballet individiuially. Connie Graham and Hal Scott and Tornjmy Russel] and Ernie Marconi, will be seen in fresh items in the second act of “Switzerland,” arranged to allow the skaters a short rest.
