Transmission Of Messages Through Geneva
LIMITATION OF 25 WORDS
Because of the suspension of postal communication with Denmark, correspondence for that country can no longer be accepted for transmission in the ordinary way. The Post Office authorities stated yesterday that peisons in New Zealand who desire o communicate with relatives in Denmark may do so through the International Red Cross at Geneva, by using a special form which is obtainable at principal post offices. Messages sen ■ by this means are restricted to pen sonal matters and must not exceed —"> words in length. Unless they conform to these requirements the message, may be detained by the censorship authorities. _ . . The Post Office also notifies that advice lias been received that one bag or New Zealand mail for Copenhagen is presumed to have been lost by the sinking of the s.s. Vidar while on a voyage from England to Denmark toward the end of January last. The ba" of mail referred to is probably thar which was dispatched from Auckland on December 12 last and contained one registered article and about 31b. of letter mail. This is the first bag of New Zealand overseas mail matter that has been lost since the outbreak of hostilities.
