Lusitania’s Last Voyage Begun (From “The Dominion,” May 4, 1915). Count von Bcrnstorff, German Ambassador to the United States, has issued a warning that the Atlantic must be regarded as a war zone. This Jias not produced the slightest alarm in Liverpool, where ship-owners describe it as another sample of German bluff. Advices from New York state that the Lusitania sailed amid excitement as a result of the newest manifestation of Count Bcrnstorff’s flagrant disrespect of American neutrality. The Cunard Company allowed none of the 1310 passengers by the Lusitania to cross the gangway till their credentials had been presented. A notable prospective addition to the French Navy is announced in the launching of the super-dreadnought Languedoe at Bordeaux. Sim is a heavily-arniour-cd ship, carrying 12 13.4-inch guns in her main batteries, and a strong secondary armament of 24 5.5-inch guns. Originally she was to have been completed in 1917, and her construction must have been expedited considerably. It will be some time yet:, of course, before she is ready to enter into war duties.
