With the opening of the shooting season on Saturday, reports from Hawke's Bay indicate that there are plenty of ducks and swans about. Pheasants, too. appear to have bred freely, and they arc noticeable in nurnlbers this season on Hawke's Bay riverbanks. The demand for gun licences in Hawke’s Bay to dale has not; been as keen as last season. ft was stated that there would need to be a particularly heavy rush today to bring the tally up to the 1939 total.
