Appreciation of Ihe arrangements made in Hastings for the dispatch of fruit to men in camp in the Central Military Command was expressed at a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Provincial Patriotic Council in Hastings. The mayor, Mr. Maddison, said that to date 551 cases of fruit had gone forward, and the cost to the patriotic council had been only £7 or £B, thanks to the generosity of the growers and C. H. Slater, Ltd., and others concerned in the distribution and handling of the fruit.
