Wartime Pay At Men’s Rates (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 29. The claim for equal pay for equal work for women going into occupations usually reserved to men has won its first success in a decision by the Industrial Court on tiie wages of women employed by local authorities as wartime omnibus and tramear conductors, says "The Times.” The principle embodied in the decision cannot inferentially be transferred to other occupations, for two reasons: that the Court's decision will have a specific not. general application, and tliat women’s war work in industry may not so closely correspond to men's work in the road passenger service. Moreover, tiie decision has application in wartime dilution, and is not related to normal times and circumstances. Nevertheless, it may point much further than it reaches.
