Wellington Union’s Motion Of Protest The action of the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Semple, in dismissing a workman on the llaast Pass Road job is the subject of the following resolution carried at a recent meeting of the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners’ Union:— “That a letter be sent to the Prime Minister protesting against the action of one of his Cabinet Ministers (Mr. (Semple) in victimizing a workman on the Haast Pass Road job for daring to express an opinion contrary to Mr. Semple’s. This we consider a most outrageous attack on the very basis of our civil liberty and indeed pur New Zealand democracy.”
