Ration Cards Forced On Public (British Official Wlrel‘-ss.> RUGBY, April 28. The issue of the Danish newspaper “Politiken” of April 15. which has now reached Loudon, contains matter confirming the expectation that the Nazis would not wait long to exploit their new “protectorate.” Rationing of margarine had already begun. A photograph of a ration card appears on the front page of the "Politiken.” Until May 1 individuals are entitled to only 250 grammes of margarine or palmin, the manufacture of which has ceased meanwhile. Other items significant of the presence of the invaders are a warning to readers not to kill poultry, and instructions how to recognize the currency used bj’ the German troops. The United States Agricultural Department reports that the Danish grain crop is likely to be below normal, increasing the shortage of feed, imports of which have been cut off (reports the Press Association). The feed available is sufficient to last till the end of October. It is expected that between 15 and 20 per cent, of Denmark’s cattle will be killed within three months. The Speaker of the Lower House of the Danish Parliament is reported to have rejected a proposal to pass a formal resolution of gratitude to the Danish soldiers who were killed by the Nazi invaders. The proposal was put forward by the leader ot the Danish Nazi Party. The Speaker declared that it was not advisable at the present moment Io discuss a subject on which there was such deep teeliug.
GRAIN SUPPLIES DELAYED
LONDON. April 28. Germany’s prospects of adding to her grain store from crops in Bohemia and Moravia have been badly hit by the severe winter.' A report published in Prague says that spring sowing has only now been started in the southern parts of the country which escaped damage in the recent floods. In some of the northern districts the farmers have just begun to prepare the soil for sowing, which will be a month later than usual.
FOREIGN FLAGS BANNED
LONDON. April 28.
The Swiss Federal Council has banned the display of tings and banners and other emblems of foreign countries.
