Sale Of Manuscripts (From “The Dominion,” April SO, 1915.) At the Red Cross Society s sale /it Christie’s (which realized £35,000), five na-es of Dickens’s autographed manuscript of chapter 19 of “The Pickwick Papei-s” fetched £-150; Kiplings draft of “For AH We Have and Are.” £36; and a poem by Hardy. £-24. * The Rockefeller Commission, reporting on the condition of Servin, assert that there are 30,000 eases of typhoid, and that the whole nation is rapidly becoming enveloped. There nre 300,000 people in a destitute condition, and wholly beyond tlie Government’s control, constituting a menace to the health of the entire globe.
