CELEBRITY CONCERT

An unmistakably deep impression was made cm all who heard the voea[ and orchestral, numbers, presented m the Town Hall, Wellington, on Saturday night, at the first of the two celebrity concerts in aid of the National Patriotic Fund. Tlie four distinguished singers, together with the Centennial Festival Symphony Orchestra, under Mr. Anderson Tyrer, scored instant success, creating the greatest enthusiasm. As a result of the high opinion formed of the artists, the indications point to a most successful second concert tomorrow night. This will be attended by Lord and Lady Galway and suite, which will include Captain W. E. Parry, C. 8., of 11.M.5. Achilles. Essentially tuneful and popular numbers have been selected, ami will be presented with consummate artistry. The singers—Oscar Niitzke. bass; Heddle Nash, tenor; Isohel Baillie, soprano; and Gladys Ripley. contralto—are among the finest artists in the British Empire, every one having won the highest praise overseas in opera and concert work. For the centennial orchestra Mr. Tyrer has brought together more than 30 of the Dominion's iiest musicians. A programme entirely different from Saturday's will be presented tomorrow night.
