Newlands and the late Mrs. Newlands, Cowenbeath, Fifeshire. Scotland. * * * TO SER—SCHOFIELD. The engagement has been announced of Beryl Doris, second daughter of Mr. A. A. and the late Mrs. Schofield, of “Aberfoyle,” Tinui, to Mr. H. L. S. Toser, of Masterton. On Holiday Miss Joyce Evans. Hawera, is the guest of Mrs. 0. K. Tennent, Dunedin. Mrs. R. Semple, Wellington, left by plane for Westport yesterday: Mrs. N. Pearce. Wellington, is visiting Wanganui, and is the guest of Mrs. F. W. Nancarrow. Mrs. C. R. Fairbrother, New Plymouth, is visiting Napier as the guest of her sister. Mrs. B. Chisholm. Mrs. Rupert Glendining, Wairoa, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. S. M. Baird. Cole Street, Masterton. Mrs. John MacMillan and Mrs. Steele-Smith left Wellington by the steamer express last night for the south.
Mrs. J. S. Howie, St. John’s Hill. Wanganui, and Mrs. L. Leslie Lambert, Hunterville, are spending a holiday in Napier.
Mr. and Mrs. H. P. La wry, Palmerston North, have as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. H. Y. Widdowson. Christchurch.
Miss Pat Hanley, Masterton, is a visitor to Hastings, where she is the guest of Miss Patricia Wright. _ She will later visit Miss Betty Downing.
Mrs. J. A. Bett, Nelson, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. James Andrew, Tinui. Mrs. H. M. Peacock, Auckland, ’ is the guest of Mrs. Archer Hosking, Masterton.
Misses L. and G. Blackburn. Cape Town, who arrived at Wellington from South Africa by the Dominion Monarch, will leave by plane today for a visit .to the. South Island.
Miss Leta McPherson and Miss Betty Turner, Masterton, who are spending a holiday at the Sounds, will leave for Christchurch today to spend a few days there before returning home. Returned From Abroad Mr. and Mrs. John Aston,- Wellington, who have been making a holiday visit to America, returned home on Saturday. Visitors to Wellington Miss M. Skoglund is a Christchurch visitor to Wellington. Mrs. H. T. Merritt, Papatoetoe, Auckland, is on a short visit to Wellington. Mrs. J. C. Young, Palmerston North, and her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Yeats, Fitzherbert, are visitors to Wellington. Mrs. Barnard Wood has arrived at Wellington from Christchurch for a few days, and is staying with Mrs. T. E. Y., Secldon, Wadestown Road. Returned To Wellington Miss Jean Paton, who has been visiting friends in Taranaki, has returned to Wellington. Going Abroad Mrs. H. S. Richards, Christchurch, will leave next month by the Dominion Monarch for a trip to England. Mrs. C. Brown, Hastings, spent a few days in Palmerston North on hetway to Wellington, from where she will leave today by the Awatea to visit her mother in England. Mrs. A. Martin, West Norwood, Loudon, who has been visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. Martin, Haumoana, Hastings, visited Wellington, en route for Bluff, where she will connect with the Dorie Star on her return to England.
