C. Cliff Sets New Time For 100 Yards Backstroke By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 27. In an attempt tonight to lower the New Zealand record for 100 yards backstroke, the Christchurch swimmer, C. Cliff, regist red 65 3-5, breaking the time of P. G. Matbiesou, Auckland, by three-liftlis of a second. The 100 yards Invitation Scratch Freestyle race was won by P. Haijan, Auckland. who beat the New Zealand sprint champion, R. Hutchwell. Wellington, by a yard in 54 3-ssec.
