Edmonton Basketball Team How long will it be before the Wellington Women's Basketball Association can boast a record such as is possessed by the Edmonton Grade, of Canada? little booklet has just been issued by the Commercial Graduates Club entitled the ''Official Record of the Edmonton Grads,” and what a story it is! It covers 466 games, 23 years of play, and more than 100,060 miles of travel. Of .the 466 games the Grads have lost only 1.5! No other sporting organization in the world, it is safe to say. can approach such a record, even remotely. Since 1922, when detailed permanent records were started, the team has used only 36 girls, whereas players in opposing teams have totalled more than 1200. Of the 36. all but two have been students of McDougall Commercial High School, Margaret Mcßurney, now living in Vancouver, appeared in a Grad uniform 182 times. Gladys Fry and Elsie Bennie came next with 170 and 168 performances. The detailed official record since 1922. covering 319 games, is impressive. In that time the team played 14 games for the North American title and lost, five; 91 for the Underwood trophy and lost three; 26 in Candaian finals and lost two; 21 in western finals with no losses; 38 in Alberta finals and lost two; 81 exhibition games in Canada with no losses; IS in the United States with three losses; and won all 24 played in Europe. It also has won all six games played agains' young men's teams.
