Dominion Monarch
Sir, —The claim made in this morning’s issue of your paper that the above vessel is the largest motor-ship in the world does not require much investigation to show that this can hardly be substantiated. I think yon will agree that the figures given in Lloyd’s register are correct, and a hasty perusal of same shows that the Dominion Monarch is only the third largest motor-ship in the world. The following figures will bear this out: —
Tons, gross Ship’s name. reg. Length Breadth Depth ♦Augustus . 30.418 710.9ft. 82.Sft. 4G.5ft. tGeorgic ... 27,759 683.6ft. 82.4ft. 4S.6ft. {Dominion Monarch . 27,155 657.6ft. 84.9ft. 44.8ft. ♦Italia Line. fCunard-White Star Line. tShaw, Savill and Albion Co. 1 am, etc., SHELL BACK. Wellington, March 27.
