OPPRESSION OF JEWS IN MEMEL

Tanks And Artillery Arrive MEMEL, March 24. Jews’ possessions have been sequestrated for the establishment of their value and to prevent tbeir being smuggled out. Jews in Memel are subjected to similar financial burdens as in Germany. Jewish judges and lawyers are disbarred. All German laws will be enforced on May 1. Two hundred armoured cars, 60 tanks, artillery, and anti-aircraft units have arrived. Dr. Koch. President of East Prussia, has been appointed a commissar for the transfer of Memel to the Reich, with Dr. Neumann, leader of the Memel Germans, as his deputy.
