RADIO FOR TASMAN AIR SERVICE
Manufacture Of Equipment In Australia Radio equipment for the transtasman air service is being manufactured in Australia, according to Sir Ernest Fisk. Sydney, managing director of Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia!. Limited. He arrived at Wellington on Saturday by the Dominion Monarch. He said that orders had already been placed for the manufacture of tin' equipment for the service. All of it was being made in Australia, partly because it could not be secured from abroad and partly because it was advisable to develop that type of manufacture in Australia as an essential part of Hie defence system. Australian radio makers were not pleased that Ihe importation of their products to New Zealand was restricted, wliile British seis were being admitted. His own company was not concerned: its manufactures were such that if they were wanted in New Zealand it would be by the Government, in which case there would not be any difficulty over importing it.
