Southerlies BecomingGeneral Following is the weather report and the forecast for winds and seas issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today General situation: The depression over the Tasman Sea has moved eastward only slowly, but. has deepened. Pressure is still very high over southeastern Australia. Forecast. —Winds: Light, but freshening northerlies at first over most of the country, but southerlies in the south. Later southerlies gradually becoming general, and strong in places. Seas (New Zealand waters) : Slight to moderate, but later rising south of Cape Palliser. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds at first in the central and northern portions, but a change to strong southerlies to gales advancing from the west and south.
