Imports And Exports

Messrs. Macassey and Sous, Southlaud, recently imported 10 rams and five stud Suffolk ewes from Messrs. Eerrar Bros., Victoria. These were high-quality sheep, and it is- the intention of Messrs. Macassey and Sons to experiment with the breed in their district. The transaction was arranged through the stud stock department of Wright, Stephenson aud Co., Ltd., which company also arranged for tjie importation of a slud Shropshire ram ex Mr. Enders, Victoria, for Mr. Hoban, Canterbury. A further notable importation was a slud Border Leicester ram for Mr. W. Kennedy, Bayswater, Southland, from Templeton' Bros., Sandyknowe, Scotland. JI r. Kennedy has a market for his Border Leicesters in Australia, and during the last few months one or two of the leading Australian breeders have been importing Border Leicesters from the leading Scottish studs, Mr. Kennedy has obtained the best sjieep possible as- it is his intention to hold his Australian and New Zealand clientele. Exportations arranged by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., have been 15 Romney ewes ex it. S. Holmes, Waimahaka, to a New South Wales buyer, live stud Southdown ewes ex Walter Price, the well-known Feilding breeder, to Victoria and 25 ewes from the same breeder to a New South Wales breeder. One of the most interesting exportations wae thu< >d' -'.I specially selected ewes from the Ka- !■••!•«* Stud of Voss I»ros., which were seleeted to the special order of a West Australian client. A new Southdown sire Ims been actin i red by the well-known breeder, Mr. E. \\ old. Flaxbourne, Blenheim. Mr. Weld advises that the ram he purchased at the final Killcynioon ram sale is doing particularly well in its- new environment.
