NOTED MYSTERY WRITERS COLLABORATE
“Drop To His Death.” by John Rhode and Carter Dickson (London: Heinemann).
Two well-known writers of detective stories have collaborated to produce “Drop To His Death.” and their combined effort reads as smoothly as the work of any one man. The plot is a variant of the sealed room mystery. Sir Ernest Tallant was shot dead when descending in his private lift in Tallant Publications, Ltd.’s, palatial building. He was alone in the lift, and there was no way in which a shot could have been fired at him from outside the lift. It makes a pretty puzzle, and puts the excellent investigators whom the authors have created for 'the occasion very much on their mettle. There is a neat streak of humour running through the*narrative, and some well-depicted characters add to the interest.
