Railwayman Killed In Wellington Yards

Injuries from which lie died soon after the accident were received by Mr. John Frederick Gallien. widower, aged about 59, when ho wtis struck by a multipbsunit electric train on the Wellington .)ohiisonVille line yesterday morning. Mr. Gallien received a Irttclure of Hie base of lhe skull and other injuries. The accident occurred in lhe Wellington railway yards at about 7.3,> a.tn. Mr. Gallien, who was employed as a filter by the Railways Department in Hie ear and wage depot, situated at the northern eml of Hie Thorndon goods yards, is said to have left his home, 117 Thorndon Quay, shortly before 7.30 a.tn. He was on Ills way to work and walking across lhe track when struck by the train. Mr. Gallien served in the South African War and also in tlic Great War.
