Baseball Tournament In Wellington Less than two years after the introduction in Wellington the New Zealand Baseball (Softball) Council will since iis liiwl interprovincial tournament in Wellington. This will be played at the Winter Showgrounds today, starting at 10 a.in., and will be conducted on a knock-out basis. The tennis taking part will represent. Canterbury, Otago, Wanganui, Wellington. Wairarapa and Auekl.-md. More than 2000 players now lake part in baseball gnmep throughout the country. This number tloe<, not include hundreds of schoolchildren who are playing baseball ami also many women's teams. Today the pick of New players will bi.- seen in action ami loudspeaker,> will provide a running commentary of the game:-’. The final game which will decide the interproviueial champion-c-liip will be played at 3.30 p.m. The Wellington team will be captained bv !•’. Barrett. The Auckland team has several Canadians who rank in their country in many spodts—baseball, ice hockey, liieroswe and football. W. J. Dnvidge, the well-known goiter, is also a member of the team. The Auckland challenge will be strong.
