Ministerial. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington for the south by the Inter-island express steamer last night. He expects to return to Wellington on Monday. The Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Housing, will leave Wellington this morning for Palmerston North on housing business. The Minister, who will stay at the Grand Hotel, expects to return to Wellington tomorrow.
Sir Harry ’.Twy’JCord, a former Lord Mayor of London, who is .paying a visit to New Zealand, left Wellington yesterday iby air for Nelson. Mr. H. G. Kelliher, Auckland, is visiting Wellington.
Dr. A. C. McKillop left Wellington yesterday by air for Nelson. Mr. Harry Gibb returned to Wellington yesterday from Dunedin. Dr. A. 11. Falconer arrived at Wellington yesterday from Dunedin.
Mr. J. K. Moloney has been re-elected president of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union,
Mr. P. E. Tingey arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Limited express from Auckland.
Mr. W. Begg, chairman of the Otago Harbour Board, is visiting Wellington on harbour board business. Mr. A. J. Heighway, managing director of National Magazines, Ltd., travelled from Wellington to Dunedin by air yesterday. Mr. E. A. Foreman, formerly of the Palace Theatre, Petone, has taken up his duties as manager of Regent Theatre, Levin. Mr. Mark Silverstone, Dunedin, a director of the Reserve Bank, arrived at Wellington by the steamer express from the south yesterday. Mr. J. R. Hanan, mayor of Lnvercargill, and Mr. W. F. Sturman (town clerk), arrived yesterday at Wellington, where they will be engaged on municipal business. Mr. H. B. Duckworth, Christchurch, president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association, returned south from Wellington last night by the steamer express.
Mr. Percy Harris, Christchurch manager of the South British Insurance Company, Ltd., returned south from Wellington last night by the steamer express.
Wing Commander A. de T. Nevill, Air Force member for supply, Air Headquarters, Wellington, was a passenger on the Limited express yesterday from Auckland.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Walker, Eastbourne, recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Walker’s fellow members on the Hutt Valley Power Board congratulated him at yesterday's board meeting on the anniversary. Messrs. O. P. Agar and George Nairn have been appointed by dairy producers in North Canterbury to represent them at the annual conference next month of the New Zealand Dairy Board.
Mr. R. Sheen, senior inspector of Post aud Telegraphs, Wellington, is to take charge of the Hamilton post office, pending the arrival from New Plymouth of Mr. C. Clark, who has been appointed chief postmaster iu Hamilton.
Mr. W. B. Darlow, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, and Mr. D. Holderness, superintendent and engineer to the board, were passengers on the Limited express yesterday from Auckland. In Wellington they will attend a meeting of the New Zealand Harbour Boards’ Association.
