Barber, standing at the intersection of what were then known as Lambton Quay, Willis Street and Customhouse Quay, now known as Willis and Bond Streets (where the Tudor Theatre is now situated)/N 1857 the sailing vessel Myrtle brought Henry Barber to Wellington after a trip lasting 132 days; a year later Janies Barber arrived in New Zealand on the auxiliary steam vessel Lord Worsley after a voyage of 126 days. 132 and 126 days on the water —a far cry to the present voyage of the Dominion Monarch, and yet in 1861 James and Henry Barber established the firm of J. & H. Barber, Butchers, who have been associated with the Shaw Savill Company since the arrival of its first vessel in New Zealand. The association of J. & H. Barber (later Barber & Co.) with the Shaw Savill Company was founded, and has been maintained, by service—service backed by the I experience of three generations of butchers and that indomitable spirit which proved more than capable of coping with the hardships and disadvantages of early pioneer days. Today Barber and Company offer 78 years’ continuous service as a guarantee to one and all of the highest quality and entire satisfaction. BARBER & CO. BUTCHERS (Formerly J. & H.
