Women Behind Scenes Of "The Women"
'T'WO of the players in “The Women,” which is to be presented in New Zealand, have unseen roles upon which a great deal of the success of “The Women” depends. These are Debby Dare and Mary Duncan. Miss Dare is the stage manager of the show, and Miss Duncan is - her assistant. It is Miss Dare’s job to look after the running of the show and sit on the prompt, side of the stage and see that, should an actress forget her line, she is immediately prompted in a voice low enough to be heard by the actress only and not by the audience. This is an art that only a very experienced actress can accomplish, and requires intense concentration. Debby Dare is' possibly the first woman stage manager of a professional show presented in New Zealand. She is an American with a flair for smart frocking. Mary Dunean hails from Queensland.
