Film Of Kitchener's Life Planned
THE shooting of a film life of the first Earl Kitchener, with the tentative title of “Kitchener of Khartoum,” is to begin at Denham in April. Herbert Wilcox, in making this announcement before leaving for the United States, stated that Sir Robert Vansittart, Chief Diplomatic Adviser to the Foreign Secretary, who collaborated on “Sixty Glorious Years,” had agreed to write the story. He also promised that for the first time official details would'be given of the sinking of the British cruiser Hampshire, during Lord Kitchener’s ill-fated journey to Russia in June, 1916. . These have been made available through the co-operation of MajorGeneral Beith, Director of Public Relations at the War Office. Assistance with details of Lord Kitchener’s life and death will also be given by his family and the Admiralty. Mr. Wilcox has gone to Hollywood to negotiate with a star actor to play Kitchener. He has Ronald Colman in mind. While there he will complete arrangements for Anna Neagle’s first American film under his new partnership agreement with R.K.O. Radio. Miss Neagle will probably appear briefly in the Kitchener film as Queen Victoria.
