Serial Film With Unknown Hero
POSSIBLY for the first time in the history of motion pictures, a film has been produced and released without the identity of the leading character being known. In “The Lone Ranger,” a Republic serial, which comes to the De Luxe Theatre shortly, the Lone Ranger’s face is masked throughout the picture. Not until the last few feet of the final episode does the audience see the features of the masked figure. Many times the identity of the villian in pictures has been kept unknown, but this time a studio has attempted to conceal the hero.
In “The Lone Ranger” there are five leading men, any one of whom can be the star of the picture. They are all the same height, weight, and with similar characteristics. They are all seen in circumstances which might prove each one is the Lone Ranger.
