GOLF COMPETITIONS

Tui Glen Opening Day Next Sunday will be the opening day of the Tui Glen Golf Club’s winter season, and an-invitation is extended to all golfers to take 'part in the mixed competitions. In the morning a mixed foursome will be played-over 13 holes. A medal round over 13 holes will be placed in the afternoon. Rangimarie Club The Rangimarie club will open the 1939 season tomorrow afternoon, when a mixed foursome bogey will be played. A dance will be held in the evening at the Brown Owl cabaret. Waiwetu Club The Watt and Ranish Cup fixtures against Shandon set down for tomorrow have been postponed till April 29. The official opening of the winter season will take place next Sunday. Atter the opening ceremony a combined foursome bogey match will be played. The last competitions of the Manor Park Golf Club for the summer season were played at the weekend under very pleasant conditions. The results Saturday afternoon: M. Turner, 35 points, won the stableford from K. Mason, on the count back. Sunday morning: An 18-hole bogey handicap was won by D. Hood, with 1 up. Sunday afternoon : An 18-hole stroke match was won by R. J. Meilraith with 65 net. The Summer Cup was won by L. Birch, 295, Miss McGrath and W. Kincaid being 296. The ringer competition was won by E. Titahi Club The final rounds for the. Titahi Bay Golf Club’s Summer Cup will be played this weekend. The competition is for the four best medal rounds in the summer season. This will be the last opportunity members will have to complete their scores. Pukerua Bay Club The third annual meeting of the Pukerua Bay Golf Club was held on Sunday last in tlie clubhouse. The meeting was well attended. In presenting the report and balance-sheet, the chairman, Mr. Charles Gray, congratulated the club on the financial position. Improvements had been made during the past season, including additions to the clubhouse and with arrangements well in hand for the new lay-out of the course, members should enjoy the coming season and improve their golf.
