AFTER-HOUR TRADING
Grocers To Petition Prime Minister
The New Zealand Master Grocers’ Federation is 'to be requested to organize a monster petition to be submitted to the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, calling his attention to the practice of after-hour 'trading, contrary to the award, and asking for legislation to put an end to it, according to a decision made at the recent annual meeting of the Wellington Grocers’ Industrial Union of Employers.
After-hour trading was discussed at length, following reports to the conference of the federation in Timaru that the practice was being carried on in all parts of the Dominion. The co-opera-tion of other traders affected is to be sought in the effort to eliminate it.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr. H. A. Fanselow; vicepresident, Mr. N. Johns; treasurer, Mr. S. Plant; auditor, Mr. I. B. Granger; secretary, Mr. H. J. Stott; executive, Messrs. F. Cook, J. F. Turnbull, A. L. Brown, A. Hogg, H. J. Barley, G. Hoddinott.
