Arrangements For Extra Trains
BUSY PERIOD EXPECTED
“If the summer weather experienced during the past two months continues into April, we are optimistic of last. Easter’s record bookings being easily eclipsed during the coming holiday period.” said 1 an official of the Railways Department when giving details yesterday of the extra trains which have been arranged to cope with the volume of passenger traffic expected at Easter. It was stated that many people have reserved seats in readiness for trips by rail at Easter, and the department, in expectation of further Heavy demands for accommodation, has made complete preparations for the holidays. Timetables for extra express trains have been arranged, and road motor services will also be supplemented. Main Trunk Trains, On April 6, 10 and 11. the three busiest days of the holiday period, the Daylight Limited express will run between Wellington and Auckland, and between Auckland and Wellington. Other relief for the ordinary expresses will be provided by the sjtecial trains leaving Wellington for Auckland at 7.40 p.m. on April 5, 3.42 p.m., <.40 p.m.. 8.25 p.m., 8.55 p.m., and 10.7 p.m. on April 6, 3.42 p.m. and 7.40 p.m. on April 10, and at 7.40 p.m. 'bn April 11. 12. 14 and 16.
Similarly, extra trains are _to leave Auckland for ’Wellington at 7.45 p.m. on April 5, 3.30 p.m., 7.45 p.m., 8.35 p.m., 0.15 p.m. and 10.15 p.m. on April 6. 3.30 p.m. 7.45 p.m., 8.35 p.m., and 9.15 p.m. on April 10, and at 7.45 p.m. on April 11, 12, 14 and 16.
Taranaki and Wanganui.
Relief trains for Wanganui will leave ’Wellington at .10.28 a.m. and 11 p.m. on April 6, and' also on that daya special train for New Plymouth will leave Wellington at 11.20 p.m. The 10.28 a.m. Wellington-Wanganui special will run on April 7, 10, and 11 also.
On April 6 extra trains for Wellington will leave ’Wanganui at 11.20 a.m., and New Plymouth at 8 p.m. On April 7, 10, and 11, the 11.20 a.m. WanganuiWellington train will run, and also on April 10 a special night service is to leave New Plymouth for Wellington at 10.40 p.m. Hawke’s Bay Traffic. Additional expresses for Napier are to leave Wellington at 9.55 a.m. on April 6,7, 10 and 11. Also on April 6 specials will leave Wellington at 10.30 p.m. and 11.48 p.m., and on April 10 at 5.10 p.m. From Napier relief trains will leave for Wellington at. 8.55 a.m. on April 6,7, 10 and 11. On April 6 there will also be an extra train leaving Napier at 9.50 p.m. for Wellington, and on April 6 and 10 the usual 4.24 p.m. Napier-Palmerston North’ passenger train will connect with a special leaving Palmerston North for Wellington at 9.45 p.m.
Arrangements for the Wellington-Masterton-Woodville line on April 6 include relief trains leaving Wellington for Woodville at 4.32 p.m., Wellington for Masterton at 9.20 p.m., and Masterton for Wellington at 6 p.m. The 4.32 p.m. Wellington-Masterton train wiil also run on April 8 and 10, and on the latter date a special will leave Masterton for Wellington at 12.30 p.m.
