FRONTIER CLASH REPORTED

Rumanian Guards Killed LONDON, March 21. It is persistently rumoured in Bucharest that Hungarians clashed with Rumanian frontier guards and killed three on Rumanian territory on March 20. Military precautions are being extended to the Bulgarian border. A communique issued in Budapest states: “Several classes of reserves have been called up in order to counter-balance similar measures by our neighbours. When others demobilize we shall act similarly.” Reports of partial mobilization are denied in Budapest, but “The Times’s” Budapest correspondent says that military movements can be observed in many parts. During the past week cars and horses have been requisitioned and more men were called up today. The presence of German troops at Kosice is increasing public anxiety. The Rumanian Minister in London, Dr. Tilea, is going to Bucharest to report and receive fresh instructions.

Mr. Oliver Stanley, replying in the House of Commons to a question on tlie agreement recently concluded in Dusseldorf between representatives of the Federation of British Industries and the Reichsgruppe Industrie, said it was clear that the whole position needed examination in the light of the events of last week. He intimated that lie had asked the federation to discuss the matter with him, and, in a supplementary reply, emphasized that be had asked for the discussion solely because of the new circumstances arising from the German action in Czechoslovakia. Referring to reports which he had seen of criticism of the agreement by friendly countries, Mr. Stanley urged members to study tlie lull text of the agreement, claiming that the criticisms in question were largely based on a misunderstanding.
