The fences cannot be brushed through, but have to be jumped in the approved Aintree style, and they cannot be treated lightly, even by the most seasoned and experienced ’chaser. Fourteen of the fences are jumped twice, but the water jump and the open ditch’in front of the stands are only crossed once..
