CROQUET NOTES
Interclub Matches (By Penultimate.) There are still a few postponed interclub croquet matches to be played in .the A grade. These are being played off as soon as possible and should be complete early next week. The following are the results of games played on Tuesday :—- Hataitai 1 v. Kelburn 3: Mesdames Cadwallader and Wellings beat Mesdames Roffe and Lindsay, 20-12. Wellington 1 v. Seatoun: Mesdames Caldow and Manton beat Mesdames Robertson and Small, 2(5-8; Mesdames Henderson and Hogan beat Mesdames Allen and Woodley, 2(3-19. Waimarie t v. Woburn: .Mesdames Bryan and Mount beat Mesdames Monks and Roberts, 26-1; Mesdames Moeller and Johnson beat Mesdames Walker and Mclntosh, 26-24.
Lyall Bay and Hutt clubs both defaulted to Island Bay. Hataitai Club. A very pleasing gathering took place at the Hataitai club on Saturday last, when the president and members entertained Mesdames Cadwallader and E. J. Richardson, who have played well in the recent tournaments. Mrs. Cadwallader won the women's open championship in the Wellington tournament, also the championship doubles in Palmerston North partnered with Mrs. W. E. Caldow. Mrs. Richardson was the winner of the open championship in Dannevirke. Mrs. G. Cox, president of the club, presented the guests each with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Waimarie Club. The Waimarie club has almost completed its championship matches and in each grade the matches have been most interesting, with very close finishes. In the A grade Mesdames Bryan, Mount and Moeller have all come out with one loss each and still have to play each other to find the champion. 'The intermediate grade has been won by Mrs. Hadwin, with Mrs. Parker runner-up. The B grade nas been won by Mrs. Devonport, with Mrs. Dwyer ruuner-up. Referees’ Meeting. A well-attended referees' meeting was held in the Y.W.C.A. rooms on Friday, when Mr. W. E. Caldow. oflieial referee, gave another lecture on the various rules and shots, explaining many of the finer points "f the glime. As this was the first referees' meeting for the season, Mr. \V. S. Austin, president of the Wellington association, expressed the thanks of the members to Mrs. Caldow for her untiring efforts in arranging such interesting lectures. .Mrs. Earl McKenzie and Mrs. F. M. Ramsay supported Mrs. Austin’s remarks. Personals.
All's. Talbot, Wellington club, returned by the Awatea on .Monday after an extended holiday in Australia. Mrs. Boocock, oflieial handicapper for the Wellington district, is' visiting her sou at Galatea.
,Mrs. Turner, Hataitai. has gone to Syd nev for an extended holiday.
