TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD
Third Annual Meeting In Masterton The third annual meeting of the Masterton Townswomen’s Guild was held yesterday in the Y.M.C.A. hall, there being a large attendance of members and visitors. Mrs. W. 11. Judd, who presided, thanked the retiring committee for its help and united efforts in the interests of the guild. During the afternoon potatoes grown for the guild were weighed and judged, Mrs. A. L. Bennett again winning the prize with 2041 b. from three seed potatoes.
Mrs. Miller Hope played pianoforte solos, and Mrs. Speight sang. Mrs. Coleman accompanied community singing. A competition was won by Mrs. Pearse. The annual report presented by the retiring secretary. Mrs. E. J. Burke, stated that the guild’s third year has been most successful, the membership steadily increasing and there being 39 new members for the year. The financial membership stood at 129, with expectations of aii increase.
’ The president, Mrs. Judd, was reelected. a unanimous vote of appreciation being carried. The result of the other elections was as follows:—Hon. secretary, Mrs. A. L. Bennett; hon. treasurer, Mrs. D. E. Lyttle; committee, Mesdames D. F. Andrews, E. J. Burke, P. Dixon, J. L. Hair, G. W. Milne, J. Robertson, A. Stubbings, W. Snowsill, and J. Walker. Returning From Overseas Mrs. J. Steel and Miss Jean Steel, Wanganui, returned last week from a nine months’ tour abroad. Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Clayton, College Street, Palmerston North, have returned from a visit to Sydney.
