Ministerial.

The Hon. 11. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral, returned to Wellington from Auckland by aeroplane yesterday. The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, will visit Westport on Tuesday to attend a demonstration of landclearing with modern high-powered machinery.

The Hon. A. Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, will arrive at Wellington from the South Island today, and will leave later for Gisborne, preparatory to an extended tour of the Auckland Province, embracing visits to Whakatane, Rotorua, Hamilton, Morrinsville, Matamata, Tauranga, Paeroa, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, and Taumarunui. He will leave the lastnamed centre for Wellington on March 30.

Sir Charles Luke, Wellington, is visiting his son, Mr. 0. R. Luke, Palmerston North.

Sir Stephen Allen, Morrinsville, is a passenger by the Trojan Star which is due at Auckland from Liverpool on April 5.

Dr. Nigel Smith,# Sydney, left Wellington last night for the South Island by the steamer express.

Mr. Andrew Todd, Wellington, was a passenger last night for the south by the steamer express.

.Mr. Hope Gibbons, Wanganui, was a guest visitor to the Wellington Rotary Chib’s luncheon yesterday.

Mr. L. P. Leary arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland to attend the Court of Appeal.

Mr. C. L. Grange, secretary of the Auckland Hospital Board, arrived at Wellington .from the north yesterday.

Mr. C. Howarth, senior technical officer of the British Government’s Directorate of Production, is visiting Auckland.

Mr. K. W. Dalrymple, Bulls, chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, has left for the South Island on his annual quest for wapiti.

Mr. A. N. Wallace, chief postmaster, Palmerston North, began his annual leave yesterday. Mr. J. Sullivan, of the head office staff, is acting-chief postmaster in his absence.

Mr. J. M. Hardcastle, general manager of the “New Zealand Herald,” who has been visiting Wellington for the Dominion printing trade dispute, returned to Auckland last night by the Limited express.

Mr. R. P. Nottingham, director of A. C. Nottingham and .Son Ltd., Christchurch, will leave by the Mataroa on Friday on a business visit to the United Kingdom, Europe and America, returning to New Zealand within six months.

Mr. T. F. Haughey, Auckland, who has been awarded the New Zealand University travelling scholarship in architecture, left by the Niagara yesterday with Mrs. Haughey, en route to the United States and Great Britain.

Mr. N. 11. Smallbone, director of W. and R. Smallbone, Limited, 'Wellington, will leave on Friday by the Mataroa on a business visit to the United Kingdom and the Continent of Europe, returning via America before the end of the year.

Mr. A. R. McElwain, advertising manager of Theatre Management Ltd., Wellington, has been appointed director of publicity in New Zealand for J. C Williamson Theatres Ltd/and John Fuller and Sons Ltd. He is at present preparing for the Dominion tour of the former company's play “The Women,” and will leave for Auckland this weekend.

Mr. W. Ledyard Mitchell, chairman of the Chrysler Export Corporation, of the United States, and of the English, Canadian and Antwerp Chrysler Corporations, arrived at Wellington on Mondav by the Awatea with his wife and son, Mr. P. S. Mitchell. With his son, he and Mr. G. 11. Stock, of the same organization, were guests at the luncheon of the Wellington Rotary Club yesterday.
