IMPROVED CONDITIONS Results Of Saturday On The Seddon Range (By Apebtuhe.) Shooting on the Seddon Range in Trentham on Saturday took place on the 806 yards range. The weather was bright and warm with a moderate right wind which required some careful watching, but for the most part was fairly steady. Excellent scores resulted. The honours list for Saturday's: — Highest double-range scores: Riflemen L. S. Hare (Karori), 98: R. S. Owen (Petone), 96_: J. Olliver (Karori), and E. F. Gilder (Petone), 95 each; 0. Pedersen, R. H. Whiteman and N. E. Solomon (Petone), 94 each. • Highest single-range scores: Riflemen L. S. Hare (Karori) and R. W. Jenkins (Suburbs), each 50; Gilder, N. E. Solomon'and F. E. Wright (Petone), and G. G. Murrell (Old Navals), 49 each. The range for next Saturday for all clubs will be at 500 yards. The formula for the allocation of squadding numbers will be number 1, and the squadding numbers for each club will be: University 1-2, Old Navals 4-7, Suburbs 9-12, Karori 14-17, Petone 19-24. Petone Club. The Petone Rifle Club’s results at the Seddon range on Saturday also count for the second shoot of the fourth series, and for the club championship, the Flaws, O’Donnell, Longfield and Burridge aggregates. Saturday’s results are:—

The Karori club completed its championship series on Saturday, when'' the final match was fired at 800 yards at the Seddon range. A feature of the match was the splendid shooting done by Rifleman L. S. Hare. He was seven points behind the leader before the final match and, with brilliant shooting, won the club championship by six points. Saturday’s match also completed the club’s handicap aggregate. This was contested closely and resulted in a tie between R. Bradey’and R. J. Stewart. In the shoot-off (five shots) another tie occurred. With the next shot, however. Bradey won by a point.

The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired the concluding round for the 800yds. series and the Kennedy Cup, in Trentham on Saturday. The results of the 800yds. series are: T. Goodall 1901, R. W. Jenkins, and L. Ledbrook 188$ each, and I. Kendrick 185. The Kennedy Cup competition resulted in a tie between T. Goodall and R. W. Jenkins, 187$ points each. Saturday’s results are:—

Members of the Old Navals Club fired their championship series and the second shoot of the fourth series competition at the 800yds. range in Trentham on Saturday. the results also counting for the Hugo Cup competition for the best live single-range rifle scores at this range. The leading single-range scores are:—Rfm. G. G. Murrell, 49; F. E. Franklyn. P. C. Cootc, R. Mottram, and M. Hugo, 48 each. The competition for the Martin badges was won by the team comprising Riflemen P. C. Coote 1)3. B. Moss 92, it. R. Chapman 90. and T. Mottram 88—total 363. The leaders for the President’s Cup competition, 300 yards, are Riflemen G. G. Murrell and F. -Monk, 237 each; and for the Hugo Cup competition, 800 yards. Riflemen P. W. Congreve 233, and G. G. Murrell 232.

MINIATURE RIFLES

Wellington Association A well-attended meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington Miniature Rifle Association was held latst week. Mrs. A. V. G. Wilson, on the unanimous vote of the committee, was elected chairman of the association for the season. Much business was transacted. The vacancy in the office of hon. secretary was filled by Mr. J. B. Ritchie. Messrs. I’. Stewart, W. H. Nickless and D. McGinnity were elected a sub-commit-tee to draw up the interclub schedule for tlie ensuing season. This year the A grade will be divided into two sections. Entries must be in by April 1, and the matches will begin during the first week in May. The annual Hutt Valley v. Wellington match, which will be the official opening of the season, will take place in Petone on May 6. Mr. A. V. G. Wilson was reelected sole selector for Wellington. The Wellington championship meeting will take place on July 8, and last year’s championship programme will be adopted Target checkers for the year are Messrs. H. R. Keene, J. .Atkins and J. Dudgeon. The Osmond and Ladies’ Shield matches will be held during May 1-13: the Wairarapa match will be held on May 27: the Empire cities on June 17; the B.S.A. match on July 1: and the Christchurch y. Wellington women’s match on June It. The New South Wales match has been set down for September 9. The association has also decided to enter a l<‘iun for the Dewar Shield match, which will be fired on .July 30. S.M.R.C. medals will lie awarded to the riflewoman and to the rifleman with the highest in tend uh aggregate for the season. Ono cut-out shoot, will be allowed. The annual meeting of the Public Service Miniature Ititie Club was held in the residence of Mr. A. V. G. Wilson on the night of March 15. Mr. Wilson, the chair-
