WRESTLING SEASON

Good Performers Coming From United States “I think I have coming to New Zealand for the season the greatest wrestling team which has ever visited the Dominion, writes Mr. Walter Miller from Sydney. “We will have the greatest wrestlers in the world.” . T , “Our first ones to arrive are:—John Katan, Canadian. He is Paul Bowsers man, and he has been wrestling in Boston as a star attraction for Paul Bowsei, then in New York, Montreal, Toronto, and practically all the Eastern large cities, lie has a win over McCready to his credit, and very few wrestlers in the world have won over McCready. Katan has wrestled practically every leading wrestler in the United States. “I have made arrangements with Stadiums Ltd. for the exchanging of men throughout the season. This will give a big advantage to New Zealand. We should have about 30 wrestlers in two countries, so that will give us a lot of new faces through the season.; . “John Katan, of 'Washington, D.C., is a top-liner. He has met practically every leading wrestler in the game. He is 6ft., and 2301 b. in weight. "Jack Donovan is over 6ft. tall and weighs about 2301 b. His favourite hold is the body slam, and he is a very clever aud aggressive wrestler. “Then comes Roland Kirchemeyer, who scales 2401 b., and is 6ft. 4in. in height. He is a very powerful and scientific wrestler, and has met all the leading mat men. “Mays McClain comes from Oklahoma. He is a half American Indian, about 240 lb. iu weight, 6ft. 21in. in height, and is an all-American football player. His speciality is the flying tackle, and he has been among the leading wrestlers for the ■past six or seven yeans. “Dazzler Chirk (don’t confuse him with Douglas Clark of England) comes from the East. _He weighs 2301 b., and is over 6ft. in height. “These five men will arrive in the Niagara on May 1, and will be followed in the next ship by Ted Cox, who does not need any introduction as he is very well known through his great work in New Zealand. Then in June we will have Earl McCready, Ray Steele, and Paul Jones.”
