Palmerston North Beat Wellington Juniors GOOD A GRADE PLAY In a junior representative women’s cricket match played on Prince of V\ ales Park Wellington, on Saturday, Palmerston North beat Wellington by 52 runs. The game was decided on an excellent wicket in ideal weather. Wellington batted first, their wickets fullim’- cheaply for 73 runs. The visitors’ bowlin” was consistent and their fielding keen Palmerston North replied with 125 runs. They had au invaluable allrounder in B. McKenzei, who scored 53 and took four wickets for 27 runs. B. Hickens opened for Palmerston North, and, despite an injury to her foot, received earlier in the game, carried her bat right through the innings. . ’The teams were: —Palmerston North: B Hicken, B. McKenzie, K. Seales, S. Heath, I. Christian, C. Millar, J. Gallagher, A. Gardner. D. Jeffrce, I. Dalton, j/ebristian. Wellington: D. Hill, B. Stewart, P. Fairclough, S. Jackson, N. Kelly, J- Nolan, J. Dixon, J. Oxley, S. Baker, P. Marshall, M. Rowntrce. Batting for Palmerston North, B. McKenzie scored 53 runs (including nine fours), and B. Hicken made 20 not out. For 'Wellington B. Stewart made 25 runs. For Palmerston North, B. McKenzie took four wickets for 27 runs, C. Millar three for 11, and I. Christian two for 19. Bowling for Wellington, B. Stewart took five wickets for 36 runs, D. Hill two for 19, and S. Baker two for 22. A Grade Gaines. Results of the A grade games arc: — Technical Old Girls, 242, beat Trinity, 59. Batting for Technical Old Girls, A. Ell ecored 51 runs, B. Holmes 40 not out, L. Harris 35, N. Sheridcn 27, M. Simpson 24, H. Buck 21, and M. Wareham 18. For Trinity, M. Tonks scored 20 and G. Watkins 17 not out. Bowling for Technical Old Girls, E. Hurcome took three wickets for 13 runs, A. Ell three for 19, and B. Holmes two for 10. For Trinity, 0. Watkins took four wickets for 77 runs and N. Ransley three for 60. . College Old Girls, 122, beat Wellington, 47, at Prince of Wales Park. For College Old Girls, P. Pilcher made 33 runs, J. Stenburg 25 and D. Hatcher 23. E. Daniells (Wellington) scored 21 runs. Bowling for College Old Girls, P. Pilcher took four wickets for 13, D. Hatcher two for 1, and I. Lamason two for 22. For Wellington, D. Simons took five wickets for 25 runs.
Y.W.C.A., 178 for six wickets, declared, beat Hutt United, 44 for seven, at Nairn Street. Batting for Y.W.C.A., E. Page scored 77 runs, W. Tasker 49 and L. Williams 27 not out. Bowling for Y.W.C.A., E. Page took three wickets for 8 runs, B. Nash two for 9, and W. Tasker two for 24. For Hutt United, B. Hoare took three wickets for 53 runs. Technical College, 160. beat. Kiibirnie, 57, at Emerson Street. Batting for Technical College, U. Renner scored' 77 runs and V. Ell 19. For Kiibirnie, E. Dumbleton made 23 runs. Bowling for Technical College, M. took five wickets for 9 runs and U. Renner three for 30. For Kiibirnie, ,T. Hudson took five wickets for 50 runs, E. Duinbleton two for 6 and J. Saunders two for 52. B Grade.
In the B grade match, Midland, 135 (A. Yates 35 not out, A. Morganti 29, K. Symes 27) beat College Old Girls and Onslow combined, 49 (N. Astwood 28). Bowling for Midland J. Rowberry took six for 25 runs Midland played with four short in the team.
