When Banks Peninsula was producing more than 100,000 sacks of cocksfoot a season large-scale contracts were common, but where whole farms were once devoted to cocksfoot, except in exceptional circumstances, seed areas are now seldom more than 100 acres in extent. A contract taken this year by Mr. G. Waghorn, Okain’s Bay, was extremely large. With a fully-equipped camp of 25 men antj a cook, Mr. Waghorn harvested 1900 rough sacks of seed.
