LIGHT BREEZES FOR YACHTING

Keelers Becalmed

ROYAL PORT NICHOLSON CLUB RACES

It took the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club’s keelers more than half

an hour to reach Point Jerningham, so light were the breezes for yacht racing on Saturday afternoon. The fleets started in almost a dead calm, with brilliant sunshine, and the first part of the after-

noon was little more than a drifting match for all classes. Later, however, a light northerly freshened and the fiinishes were slightly more interesting. Atalanta won the big heeler race, Yvonne, the second class, Innocence the X, H, and N class race, and Toroa the Idle Alongs race. Finishing times and placings were:— <• First Class Keelers. Atalanta (scr.), 5.27.26; 5.27.26, 1 Astral (3), 5.31.45; 5.28.45, .... 2 Argo (1) 5.35.27; 5.34.27 3 Mandalay (10), 5.57.32, 5.47.32, 4; Viola (4) 6.10.5, 6.6.5, 5; Miro and Raukawa did not finish. . Innocence was not accurately timed, because of the berthing of a steamer at the Clyde Quay Wharf as she finished; but she was approximately 10 minutes ahead of the second boat. Idle Along Class.
