Reflect the Sky
New Materials are strewn with Moons anti Stars LONDON, February 24. A new moony and starry dress material comes from the United States. It is almost transparent, looks like wool, but is in fact artificial silk with a perfectly dull surface ever so slightly roughened. The background may be black or navy, and upon it are sprinkled hosts of pure white stars and moons. Now the interesting point about these stars and moons is their absolute whiteness. At first glance one. thinks they are made of silver thread or silk. But they are not.
A rubber solution is stamped with great firmness into the weave, and so fine is the stamping that the discs do not interfere with the cutting of the material. A sequin covered material is costly because the sequins have to be sewn on after a frock is made. The rubber stars may be safely cut through anywhere. A clever touch is that they are not applied at. regular intervals,, but look as if they were strewn over a midnight sky. Some stars are mere spots; sometimes they are quite large. Sometimes there are stars and moons, and sometimes only stars or moons. It makes little difference to the beauty of the fabric which should prove very popular.
Remove obstinate inkstains from silverware by rubbing them with a paste of whiting and sweet oil. Leave for a day and then wash off.
Cleau patent leather with a doth moistened with sweet oil and polish with a soft duster.
